Now that we're entering into the colder months, I like to switch to higher coverage foundations that aren't completely mattifying (as I find the matte ones can tend to look a little too unnatural in the cold weather when you want to give your skin a little life and glow). Welcome Sonia Kashuk's new Soft Focus Satin Matte Foundation to my everyday makeup drawer because it's that good.

In terms of a fall foundation, it ticks all the boxes for me. It's mattifying without looking dry and manages to look better as the day goes on. It's a medium coverage foundation that's buildable to a high coverage but still allows my freckles to pop through. It makes my pores look blurred, and it lasts for 10+ hours with only a few touch-ups needed (mostly smoothing out the creases in my laugh lines).

I like to apply it with a brush after lightening the foundation slightly (the lightest shade—01 bisque—is slightly too dark and yellow for me), and then I buff away any lines or patches with a damp makeup sponge. If you have dry patches, be warned: This foundation will stick to your dry patches, so a heavy dose of moisturizer is in order if you have dry skin. I have oily skin, so I know this will be the foundation I'm wearing every day during fall.

Check out the shade selection and if it's available at your local Target.
