Things to Be Thankful For
I'm taking a slight break from regular programming for the rest of the week to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with friends here in Omaha, but today, I wanted to get all sentimental and mushy on you because . . . well, it has been quite the year—with a lot to be thankful for.
Thinking back to Thanksgiving 2015, if you would have told me of all the changes that have taken place in my life since last year, I'd never have believed you. Friendships have evolved and changed. New passions and hobbies have been born. A new relationship has sprouted. I've grown as a person and changed in many ways.
The future is always slightly terrifying to think about, especially in light of the recent election and the current political atmosphere in our country. We all too easily get bogged down in the uncertainty of the future, but I have found that despite the unknown, there's always hope. I serve a God who promises His faithfulness and goodness are constant and never-changing, and He has shown me that in so many ways throughout this past year.
I'm thankful for the freedom we have to worship and talk about God and faith in this country. I'm thankful for my parents and for their wisdom and friendship. I'm thankful for my friends, both old and new, and for the unconditional love and laughter they give. I'm thankful for a new relationship with someone special and for the hope and excitement that has sparked from that. I'm thankful for my job and the fulfillment it brings to me. I'm thankful for the gorgeous little city I live in and its many quirks and hidden gems.
Life is truly a beautiful gift, so this Thanksgiving holiday, let's focus on that beauty and continue to strive for hope and love. Happy Thanksgiving!
