A New Way to Lighten

A New Way to Lighten | Re-Mix-Her

I've lamented about the difficulties of finding a foundation shade that's light enough and cool enough for my skin tone before (see here), but now that summer is just around the corner and I'm pulling my BB creams and tinted moisturizers from their drawer, I'm reminded of how frustrating using those can be. I find most BB creams and moisturizers are a few shades too dark for me in their lightest shade available, and they're usually quite yellow-toned.

I've found two shade-lightening alternatives that are better than these guys (which are still great, but they ran out pretty quickly). If you're looking for something heavy duty that will lighten your foundation significantly, the Manic Panic Dreamtone Foundation in Vampire White is for you. This is white—straight-up white—foundation, so it's best used for mixing with foundations, as opposed to BB creams or tinted moisturizers. (P.S. The bottle is only $10!)

If you, like me, are making the switch to something slightly sheerer for your summer base, then I'd highly suggest purchasing The Body Shop's Shade Adjusting Drops. (It comes in a dark formula, too, if you're looking to darken your foundation for the summer.) The lightening shade is quite pink-toned, so it's perfect to combat the yellow tones in my BB creams. I also find this works better with a lightweight formula rather than a heavy foundation.

Let me know if you decide to use either of these shade lighteners and how they work out for you!
