FBFF: Beauty Blunders No More
While I am definitely not a beauty blogger or a professional makeup artist, I certainly love playing with my makeup every day. I can’t draw beautiful portraits, paint gorgeous scenes, or sculpt clay into models, but I’m pretty good at drawing and painting on my face. Plus, I’m in my 20’s, which is the time to play around with makeup, have fun, and take risks. For this week’s FBFF, courtesy of Katy at ModlyChic, we’re talking about beauty.
1. What’s your favorite drug store makeup product and your favorite higher-end product?
If there’s one makeup product line I always flock to at drug stores, it’s L'Oreal Paris’s HIP (High Intensity Pigments) line. The quality is great, and while it’s slightly more expensive than Maybelline or CoverGirl, the extra $2-4 really makes a difference. The makeup actually stays on your face, and the colors are saturated and stay that way throughout the day. My personal favorite product is the Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in brown, which is perfect for my favorite winged-eyeliner look.
My favorite higher-end product is Clinique’s High Impact mascara, which is honestly the best mascara out there. It lasts forever, and I love the way my lashes always look full. It’s perfection in a black tube.
2. Is there one type of product that is your go-to, can’t live without?
I can’t live without my bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation. It’s a powder foundation that’s made of minerals that are great for your skin. I used to have problems with blemishes on my skin, but after switching to this stuff, my face became almost flawless. I had no idea a foundation would make that much difference, but now that I do know, I’m never going back to any of my other foundations.
3. What’s the best hair product you’ve ever used?
I have naturally curly hair, which means my hair gets tangled really easily. I don’t use a lot of products on my hair, other than shampoo and conditioner, but about twice a week, I’ll put Infusium23’s Moisture Replenisher Leave-In Treatment at the end of my hair. It leaves my hair super soft and really easy to work a brush through.
4. Fess up! What’s the worst beauty look you’ve tried to rock and look back at now with a little shame or apprehension that you actually tried it?
My high school colors were red and black, so in celebration of a big football game, I tried red eyeshadow. The keyword there is tried.
5. When it comes to beauty products, we all use the same basic products. What do you use that helps show off your personal flare and personality?
I love to play up my super light blue eyes with what I wear, so I always try to do the same with my makeup. Anything copper-toned, gold, or brown of any kind will almost immediately be put into my shopping cart. I love the contrast between my eyes and the brown eye products.
I also love dark nails, which I feel really speak to the edgy music-loving side of my personality (yes, I love a little hardcore). I’m currently wearing a discontinued Revlon line in Steel Gray.
