A few of the major drugstore brands have taken stabs at creating multi-pan eyeshadow palettes (beyond triples or quads), and there have been valiant efforts (looking at you, L'Oreal) and epic fails (looking at you, Maybelline). Covergirl has entered the ring, and they've created a knockout.

I mentioned these in my drugstore makeup haul on Wednesday, and they are Covergirl's TruNaked palettes. They've released three in goldens, nudes, and roses, all of which are quite similar to Urban Decay's Naked palettes 1, 2, and 3.

After giving all three a fair go, my favorite is the goldens palette. That one in particular had the best variety of warm and cool tones, and every shade performed magically, whether it was matte or shimmery. You could easily create a work-day appropriate look with this and transition it to an evening-out look with a few swishes of a brush in one of the darker hues.

The roses palette and the nudes palette are great, too, and depending on your eyeshadow color preferences, you might like one of those better. (Roses is quite pink-toned, and nudes is quite neutral.) Some of the shades in these palettes were slightly on the chalky side, but overall they performed well and would be great everyday palettes if you're on a budget.
