Eggplant and 70s prints

First, I’d like to thank my mother for getting me this peplum-inspired jacket for Christmas a few years ago. I mean, who’d have thought it’d be an essential wardrobe staple later? When paired with a very 70s print blouse (much like those seen on the Prada and Miu Miu fall runways), it all becomes the ideal mix of vintage meets modern.

Second, I’d like to thank Almay for making me try something I thought I’d never try: purple (or, really, eggplant) eyeshadow. Because of my blue eyes, I tend to stick with brown, gold, and coppery eyeshadows, but after I received an Almay Wake-Up Eyeshadow + Primer in Exhilarate, I decided that it’d be worth stepping out of my comfort zone. The primer works wonderfully, and the colors are rich and sparkly, which is something I always love in eyeshadows.

To get my look, I used the brown shade to cover the majority of my lids, the eggplant shade in my creases to give some depth to my eyes, and the pale, pale purple along my brow bone to give some highlighting action. Then I lined my upper lids with brown eye pencil and used a small angle brush to layer the eggplant shade over that liner. P.S. I was smiling during the close-up of my eyelid, which is why it looks like the crinkly eyelid of a 90-year-old.
