Fall layering 101

This past weekend was very fall-like, which meant that for walking around the city, layers were in order. When layering during early fall, thin layers are key. My gingham blouse and and sweater are both cotton, so they’re thin and breathable. And my vest, being sleeveless, was a nice addition without being too heavy. Here’s the breakdown:

Gingham Blouse: Gap via Garage sale
Sweater: Old Navy
Vest: Old Navy (similar)
Denim: American Rag via Goodwill
Flats: Enzo Angiolini via Garage sale (similar)
Bag: Brahmin (c/o Vogue)
Sunnies: H&M
Bracelets: Gift/Lauren Conrad via Kohl's

For fall, I wanted a few key pieces I knew I’d be able to pair with different items in my wardrobe. After seeing this sweater on Lacey and a similar sweater on Krystal, I picked one up for myself. I seriously debated for awhile between buying the gray/pink one, but I thought of how many versatile layering pieces I’d have to go under the navy/red one. And this outfit just proves that I made the right choice.
