Trends can be tricky. They come and go, and the lucky ones have staying power. Since I’m a fall fashion lover, let’s skip ahead a few months and talk trends that have the potential to stick (can also be read as trends I plan on making permanent in my own wardrobe). Be sure to stop by ModlyChic, where other bloggers and I are chatting today about trends we’re forecasting to be around for the next few seasons.
Knitted … everything: We saw it this summer with knitted tanks, linen sweaters and more, and the knit trend is one I think is going to work its way into our wardrobes permanently. While you might not want to go adding knitted pants into your wardrobe (like Marc Jacobs and Céline), I think knitwear is going to go beyond just your typical sweater.
Fair isle: No longer for the ski bum or someone in Iceland, we saw versions of these sweaters last year, and they’re just as big this year. The difference for fall 2014? They’re infinitely cooler and less preppy — it’s all in the styling (see Rag & Bone and Burberry).
Monochromatic: Minimalism at its best, we saw monochromatic hit bloggers last year (remember Blair of Atlantic-Pacific in that red suit?). This year, it’s all about monochromatic neutrals but mixing things up with texture and volume. Think of it as the new office chic (proof via Max Mara and Theory).
