I’m Alex from Delayed Missives! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: New York is a mad, mad whirlwind. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Between the shows, celebrities, editors, designers and events, it’s incredible that anyone even has time to breathe.
It’s a lot of fun and a thrill every time you see models walk down the runway, but it’s also an incredible amount of work, planning and careful timing.
Running around Milk, Lincoln Center and Chelsea Piers is difficult and exhausting unless you have a car service.
But it’s all worth it, especially for those magical moments — a collective gasp at the first sight of a look, sitting front row at a show you’ve only dreamed of waiting for standing at, discovering an amazing new designer or a flash of eye contact with Grace Coddington.
It may be exhausting, expensive, inconvenient and ridiculous, but come September and February I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else except flying around Manhattan for shows.
