After Michael Jackson’s unexpected death last year, the fashion industry revived all the great styles he practically branded. There were some wacky ones, like the white glove, but for the most part, they seemed to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the trends. I was always a big fan of the embellished shoulder but couldn’t bring myself to actually spend money on the trend…until now. Here’s the breakdown:
Shorts: Garage sale (Tommy Hilfiger)
Flip Flops: Old Navy
Ring: American Eagle
Bag: Garage sale (The Sak)
I couldn’t resist this shirt at H&M; it had the embellished shoulder, the nautical stripes, and a $5 price tag. I was surprised at how much the shoulders sag because of the weight of the embellishments. I had to, of course, infuse a little more nautical into the outfit with the anchor ring, which I actually bought the day the pictures were taken. My friend, Liz, and I were at the mall after a day of garage sales, and Starbucks is always a necessity after a hot day of garage sales.
