One of my favorite pastimes is knitting. Despite knitting’s reputation for being tacky or something your grandma does, carefully picking the right pattern and yarn can make all the difference in making a one-of-a-kind item. Nothing in the world quite matches the feeling of start, finishing, and wearing an item into which you put hours of effort. Here’s the breakdown:
Hat: Handmade (pattern from Vogue Knitting Winter 2010/11)
Denim: Elle via Kohl’s
Boots: Simply Vera via Kohl’s
Bag: Garage sale
Rings: Von Maur/Charming Charlie
Despite having no snow (yet), I couldn’t wait any longer to wear my latest knitting project with a fair isle-inspired sweater. I knit almost all of my winter accessories, and my current project is another Vogue Knitting sweater in a rich jewel-toned purple. (Remember this Vogue Knitting sweater from a year ago?) If you haven’t ever tried knitting before, head to your local yarn store or even YouTube a video. It is easily one of the most rewarding skills you could learn.
