Style LOVE: Elizabeth

Last (but certainly not least) on Style LOVE week is my roommate and best friend, Elizabeth. She is a junior professional writing and photography major, and lucky for me, she takes my pictures for me almost every day. How’d I get so lucky to room with a photography major? We often get mistaken for twins, sisters, or cousins, and when we moved into our room for this school year, we were excited because our closets doubled in size. We’re basically the same size and have similar tastes. Liz always dresses classy and sophisticated, and she is always an inspiration to me. Here’s the breakdown:

Blazer: TJ Maxx (Robert Louis)
Striped Tee: Sears
Jeggings: TJ Maxx
Flats: Target
Ring: Vintage

1. Describe your style in three words.
Classic, elegant, chic

2. What are some of your favorite places to shop, and who are some of your favorite designers?
If money were not an option, I know I would frequent shops like Banana Republic, Burberry, Loft, J.Crew, and little boutiques to find original pieces. But those wonderful stores aren’t realistic for a college student with no income. Instead, you will find me searching the sale racks at TJ Maxx, H&M, Forever 21, The Limited, Gap, and Target. Bargain shopping is my friend.
I wouldn’t say I’m very designer savvy - I just enjoy looking through magazines and appreciating others’ fashion genius. I do like the Elle and LC Lauren Conrad lines offered at Kohl’s, as well as bisou bisou, I Heart Ronson, and Allen B found at JcPenny. I try to avoid buying items just because of their brand, but evaluate the piece based on how it looks on me.

3. Where do you find inspiration for your outfits?
My roommate, Caitlin. She definitely inspires me when I put together some outfits, as she is extremely trendy and fashion-forward. She has a wealth of fashion knowledge with all the magazines, blogs, shows, and books she consumes often.
I enjoy looking through magazines to look for interesting styles, but I find more inspiration actually observing other people’s outfits. It helps me to see the outfit on a living, moving person versus a two-dimensional page.

4. How do you figure out what you want to wear?
Most nights, I look through my closet until I find something I haven’t worn for awhile or that jumps out at me, taking into account the weather and what I will be doing that day. Sometimes, I have the urge to wear of certain piece of clothing, a particular pair of shoes, or an accessory, so I will create the rest of my outfit based on that piece. Other than that, I don’t have a science as to what I wear each day.

5. Who are your style icons?
Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Conrad, Emma Watson, Caitlin Wilson (I’d say that’s a pretty good selection)

6. How do you want to see your style evolve this year? What risks do you want to take?
I find myself getting stuck pairing the same pieces together time and time again, so I would like to be more creative and thoughtful to create new combos. As to taking risks, whatever Caitlin makes me do, buy, or wear - she often talks me into getting/wearing things I may feel I can’t pull off.
