When it comes to the sun, I take my sunscreen and burn prevention very seriously. As of late, sunscreen has gotten a bad rap for its use of chemicals that can sometimes be irritating or soaked into the bloodstream … but I found this article to be very informative. Quite frankly, I’d much rather deal with the ramifications of chemicals than risk getting skin cancer, which my mother has had to deal with on and off for the past decade or so. Skin cancer can be very serious, and as I’m already at a high risk of developing it at some point in my life due to my pale skin/eyes and the fact my mom has dealt with it, I want to do everything I can to prevent it.
I plan to wear a hat as much as possible when I’m outside. That means a ball cap for me when I’m working out and a hat (like this one from Target) for everyday/pool time. I keep SPF 30 lip balms in my bag, and before I head out the door for a day when I’ll be inside for most of the day but might walk in between shops occasionally, I love a lotion with a little bit of shimmer.
