I've never been one to make time for toners; they just seemed like a bit of an extra step that didn't do much. Recently I've given toners a test, and they're surprisingly effective. The most recent one to my collection is Pixi Glow Tonic, which is new to the U.S. but has been a U.K. cult favorite for years. It's very similar to my beloved Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner—both contain glycolic acid, which is a chemical exfoliant and surprisingly gentle. When I wake up in the morning after using one of these two toners the night before, my skin is ridiculously smooth. The only toner I'll use in the morning is Murad's Clarifying Toner; it's cooling and fights oily skin, which is a real bonus in the hot, humid summer months.
What do you think of toners? Are they effective?
